WRAYSBURY

GENERAL
The first written spelling appears in the Doomsday Book of 1086 as 'Wirecesberie', with many variations cropping up since. Doomsday also tells us that the Manor of Wraysbury was given by William the Conqueror to one of his Norman Barons. The railway came to Wraysbury in 1848 forming part of the service from Waterloo to Windsor. As far as we are aware Wraysbury has more Clubs & Societies than any other village within the UK and therefore has a real community spirit.
